International Fashion Academy Pakistan [IFAP]

Announcing the launch of a dedicated training institute in Pakistan:
International Fashion Academy Pakistan [IFAP]

[Lahore, 21 November 2011] Model and Entrepreneur Mehreen Syed along with her team proudly introduce the International Fashion Academy Pakistan [IFAP], with their first branch now open in Lahore. A multi-dimensional academy and indeed among the first of its kind in Pakistan, IFAP’s mission is to establish a platform that allows the next generation of fashion industry professionals, specifically stylists, models, makeup artists and photographers, to study their field in a professional environment, equipping aspiring specialists with the technical know-how and exposure enabling such students to be able to pursue such studies as a viable career.

A private training institute, IFAP endeavours to provide comprehensive training and resource programs which include: The Grooming Academy, The Photography Academy, The Make-Up Academy and The Modeling Academy. Through a series of in-depth courses, such as Runway Coaching, Photo Shoot Direction, Health & Wellness, Acting Essentials, Hair & Skin Care and Speech Enhancement, IFAP’s vision is to create a new generation of trained professionals who can lead Pakistan’s fashion industry nationally and within the global arena.

Speaking about the launch of IFAP, CEO and member of the Board of Directors, Mehreen Syed has said, “I have a long standing relationship within this industry and have felt at many points in my own career, how helpful it would have been to have proper professional training and grooming. I believe there are many others like myself in various fields of fashion, who could benefit from such training. Today, therefore, I am very proud to have introduced IFAP which to me represents the start of a platform to better the Pakistani fashion industry. What is very heart warming is that our institution is supported by some of biggest names of the industry today, along with the brightest stars of tomorrow. Fashion, Makeup, Grooming, Photography and Modeling are often perceived as glamorous yet highly inaccessible and unpractical fields. My mission at IFAP is to help change this perception and establish the belief that such fields can be viable and lucrative careers.”

IFAP is further led by the Canadian based entrepreneur Uzi Zaidi who has a seasoned history in establishing educational and training institutes within fashion industry, abroad. He brings to IFAP his international experience with Goldstein Modelling Agency and Goldstein Acting Academy.

With industry stalwarts such as Shahzad Raza as the Head of Faculty and Hassan Sheheryar Yasin [HSY] as the Head of Visiting Faculty, the academy has garnered a diversity of permanent and visiting faculty consisting of leading names from the fashion, media and entertainment industries such as; Umar Sayeed, Deepak Perwani, Nickie Nina, Kamiar Rokni, Mehdi, Nomi Ansari, Iman Ali, Saba Ansari, Iffat Umer, Hamza Tarar, Nael Ahmad, Emmad Irfani, Nadia Hussain, Shammal Qureshi, Redah Misbah, Juggan Kazim, Sabina Pasha, Asmaa Mumtaz, Yasir Nisar and Dr. Haroon Nabi; allowing students the chance to benefit from their expertise, exposure and guidance.

Courses at IFAP span between a series of weeks and months. Indeed upon successful completion of a course at IFAP, students will have a formal diploma and participate in their own fashion challenge, preparing them to meet with confidence and training the real-life trials they are likely to face as members of the fashion community.

With an initial focus on training and grooming within modelling, IFAP will soon be expanding to encompass all further essential elements of the fashion industry in its curriculum. The eventual aim is to establish a complete fashion academy under one umbrella, which will produce the country’s next generation of models, stylists, make-up artists and fashion photographers.
